  2. A seating chart must be made (So that the user of a particular computer at a particular time, can be traced).
    • So do not switch seats or computers, instead:
    • Tell Mr. Thompson about any problems being experienced and let him fix it.

Math

Announcements:
  • Spring Break begins on Monday.
 Topics:
  • The General Linear Equation:
    • y = mx + b
    • (m = slope = rise / run
    • b = y intercept)
  • Do the Classwork given.
Materials:
  • Paper, penciil, Graph boards, Markers
Vocabulary:
  • Coordinates (x and y), Plot, Point, Plane, Heading, Labels, Units
  • MA.C.3.4.2 using a rectangular coordinate system (graph), applies and algebraically verifies properties of two- and three-dimensional figures, including distance, midpoint, slope, parallelism, and perpendicularity. (Also assesses C.3.3.2 and D.2.4.1)
  • MA.C.3.3.2 identifies and plots ordered pairs in all four quadrants of a rectangular coordinate system (graph) and applies simple properties of lines.
  • MA.D.2.4.1 represents real-world problem situations using finite graphs

Method:
1. Review last lesson:
A car is travelling at 40 miles per hour
  • Plot the graph of Speed vs Time.
    • Make table of values of speed vs. time.
    • Plot the graph.
  • Plot the graph of Distance vs Time for the first 5 hours of its journey.
    • Make table of values of distance vs. time.
    • Plot the graph.
2. These are examples of Linear (straight line) Graphs.
  • Let us find the general equation of a Linear Graph.
Please tell your browser to accept pictures

3. Examples:
  • Find the slope and intercept of yesterday's graphs.  Hence write their equations.
  • Special cases:
    • Slope = 0,
    • slope not defined.
    • Slope positive
    • slope negative
    • Y intercept = 0, Positive, Negative.
4. Classwork:
  1. Write the equation of a line whose slope is 3 and y intercept is 5. Sketch the line.
  2. Write the equation of a line whose slope is -3 and y intercept is 5. Sketch the line.
  3. Write the equation of a line whose slope is -3 and y intercept is -5. Sketch the line.
  4. Do the problems on the board.

Evaluation:
  • Restless Clases.
  • Spring Break will do us all good.
  • Ms. Fab. rearranged desks so students sit around the perimeter, facing the wall.

Advisory (Class Rules) Due Friday, March 27, 2009
