Lakewood High School's Internet Agreement

New Rule from Pinellas County:

  1. You can only go to the Internet site that is specified by Mr. Thompson.
  2. A seating chart must be made (So that the user of a particular computer at a particular time, can be traced).
    • So do not switch seats or computers, instead:
    • Tell Mr. Thompson about any problems being experienced and let him fix it.

Math

Announcements:
  • Circles - Use C /D = Pi to find the Area of a Circle.
Materials:
  • Paper, Pencil (for rough work and taking notes), Folder for keeping your papers in order of date.
  • One circular object.
  • Thread
  • Ruler
  • Compass
Vocabulary:
  • Radius, Diameter, Circumference, Center, Pi, Geometry Compass, Area, Sector.

Method:
  • Use a your object to draw a circle.
  • Cut it out
  • Fold in half
    • Measure its Diameter.
    • Find its Radius.
  • Color half of it.
  • Fold in Quarters
  • Fold in Eights
  • Fold in 16ths.
  • Unfold and cut the sectors apart.
  • Rearrange sectors to make a Rectangle (Parallelogram) with all the colored pieces on one side.
  • What is the area of the Rectangle
    • What is its Length?
    • What is its Width?
    • Hence what is its Area?
  • Use A for Area, D for diameter, R for Radius, and Pi for 3.14 to write the formula for the area of a circle.
  • Do the following problems:
    • Find the area of a cicle whose Radius is 20 cm.
    • Find the area of a circle whose diameter is 26 inches
    • An circular athletic track has a Radius of 50 meters.
      • If I run around it once, how far have I run?
      • How much turf would be required to cover the inside area of the track?
      • If I run straight across it through its center, how far would I run?

Evaluation:
  • Class Times adjusted due to FCAT Science exam.
    • Period 1: Short class (20 minutes). Finish lesson tomorrow.
    • Pd 3, 4 Long classes (1.5 hours)- Lesson completerd 
    • Pd 5, 7 About 40 mins - Problems need to be done.
  • Good classes
